| Native People always ask each
other those type of questions.... Where are you from? What nation? What Tribe? Who are your relatives?....

The adoptees or "lost birds" search and then greatly appreciate
        the history and knowledge

Cher Gautreaux Baum i don't have Dakota Grandparents or
Ancestors...i joined the group for two reasons...one, i admire & respect
all those who endure such hardship to honor their Ancestors on this ride...2nd,
in honor of my adopted cousin...he was one of the "lost birds"
and adopted by some of my family members...they knew he was Dakota &
tried to always help him know & understand the history of his People...i
say he was one of the lost birds, as just a few years ago, after much
hard work he found his way home to his birth family...while both of his
parents have long since passed...he is blessed to have many Aunts &
Uncles there to teach him all about his family and heritage Oh and my
        Dad's family is French/Chitimacha/Mi'kmaq.
