These are extra things that I think should have been on the pages but for one reason or other were not included during the Ride. 2018

The first is a poem that came in after the Ride had ended.

I woke from a dream tonight and wrote this in the dark.

38 voices silenced so long ago
38 men lost in one single blow
The ancestors are waiting they know where to go
And the horses are running with blood in the snow

Hear voices that cry far above the wind
Their death song a prayer that never ends
White masks that cover over their face
But can't hide the truth or disguise their fate

And the horses they run
Carrying spirits back home
They carry the prayers that heat up the stones
While the ancestors travel from behind the veil
To ride with them along the trail

The Grandma's made soup from old saddle leather
That fed little children, all blessed by a feather
The young ones today ride strong for our youth
To honor and pray to heal from the noose

The horses are strong and they have not a fear
They are running back home, far away from the tears
From the 38 nooses that took 38 lives
While the ancestors wait for them to arrive

The riders are steadfast
They ride tall and free
Holding the staffs
That they proudly carry

38 voices are rising again
38 reasons to heal from within
38 spirits honored at home today
Plus 2 equals 40, 40 prayers we say
The healing is here and the prayer is so
As the horses they run
With blood in the snow.
