A Heron sits next to the Thames opposite the Swan Hotel in Staines

 
This sculpture is called The River Guardian and is by British artist Simon Buchanan. It stands along the Thames Tow Path at the confluence of the rivers Thames and Colne. It is carved out of Portland limestone.
The Heron represents the river and is a marker for river traffic and pedestrians. It stands on a tall pedestal and is facing the River Thames.
On the river bank opposite the Swan Hotel.
