Little girl holding doll - Mendota (1880) (This says Mendota ca. 1880 but to my knowledge it was taken at Fort Snelling in 1862 - 64, you can see a small piece of the wall at the top right of the tipi that shows in the photos of Shakopee and Medicine Bottle above. However Mendota is close to Fort Snelling so maybe the photographer got his geography mixed up. The Mendota bridge across the Mississippi is right below Fort Snelling. Also at this time period most Dakota were living out of state. Gloria)
