Well here we are again, all gearing up for another Memorial Ride. This year the weather is frigid out in South Dakota and so the Riders will have to bundle up well. It is probably the coldest start they have had since 2008 when the movie was filmed. Blizzards have already struck South Dakota and for a number of days it is expected to be freezing with snow falling.
The photo I am using for the header this year was taken by Julie Carrow of Pipestone during the 2013 Ride. It is such a unique angle, showing the snow and the horse more than the rider, although both their shoes are showing. I just love this photo I believe it is my favorite that has been taken over the years. Julie kindly allowed us to use her work in the group for the Ride. '© Julie Carrow 2013'.
Lou Fuentes who was on the Ride last year for a time has been working on a couple of interactive maps for everyone to take part in and I will list those on a link at the bottom of each page.
The schedule is the same as every year, with ceremonies being done today and the Ride actually starting tomorrow from Lower Brule, SD and continuing until December 26th in Mankato, MN. The schedule pages will also be on a link at the bottom of each page.
I will be having photos forwarded to me each day of the previous day's journey and those will be added to each days page. Any messages that come into the facebook page will also be added to each day's page.
