The Power of the Sacred Pipe

'In every ceremony and rite the Canunpa (Pipe) is integral, without the pipe no ceremonies could be undertaken. It takes the prayers, and the cries, and the breath of the invisible to the Creator via the smoke. It is a very important Being. A Canupa has it's own life, it's own energies.'

'Chanupa's have a life of their own, they know what is happening around them and they have a sense of humour with their teachings, because the pipe does teach the holder. It becomes a life-long partnership; the Canunpa and the holder, the holder and the Canunpa. Many people do not want the heavy responsibility of holding a Canunpa. When you hold one your life is no longer your own, it belongs to the entity which is the Pipe.'

This workshop is being presented to bring information to the people who wish to be what is often called a 'Pipe Carrier', I prefer 'Pipe Holder' and that is what I will be using throughout this workshop.

This workshop will give you an insight into what the Canunpa is all about, the above paragraphs come from the workshop. If you wish to be a holder of a Pipe, if you want to make your own Pipe, if you have just been given a Pipe but have no idea what to do with it, then this workshop should be a pre-requisite for you. It may help you to understand the relationship you will have with the Pipe, and the responsibilities that holding one entails. A Pipe is not a play-thing, and holding one cannot be undertaken lightly.

This workshop is being presented by Gloria Hazell-Derby, who has been a Pipe holder for 20 years, and the wife and life-partner (half-side) of the late Chuck Derby for 19 years. She has taken part in countless Pipe ceremonies both with Chuck, other spiritual leaders and alone over the years. She was told thru Spirit to present this workshop, and so asked Chuck what he thought about it and he told her that if anyone could do it she could, because of her involvement with the Pipe throughout the years.

Gloria will be using her own experiences and the words of others who have a great understanding of the Pipe in this presentation. It can only be taken as a mini interactive workshop on-line at the present, the details of the next workshop are given below.

There is no charge for this presentation, but if participants would be willing to give a donation to keep the Little Feather Center running it would be most appreciated.

The next workshop starts on the 15th November, 2009 online.
We will be using a Facebook private group to access the information, so it will help if you are already on Facebook. (http://www.facebook.com) Details will be given to you once you enroll in the workshop.

Registration form for both 'Carving a Sacred Pipe', and 'The Power of the Sacred Pipe' workshops is HERE or you can email directly to littlefeather4@hotmail.com

September 2009: This photo says it all, everything that we work for at the Center is depicted in this young man's reverence for the stone, the genuine stone, the real Catlinite, that was quarried by hand in one of the sacred quarries at the National Monument; the Great Red Stone Quarry!

This man drove from Missouri all night just to get this small piece of spirituality, of history, of tradition, he then sat with it for a long time in quiet meditation.

I took this photo while he was meditating, during another part of the day, I asked him afterwards if that was OK, he said it was, he like us wants to preserve the integrity of the true Catlinite, as he himself had previously bought a piece of the false stone, he said the difference in the two stones was amazing. Like night and day!

This photo shows why the Center is around, why we promote the true stone, why we put our necks out and our heads on the block. Catlinite, the Pipe and the quarries are our passion, our life and our spiritual calling.

Thanks to all of you for supporting us.
