Jenny started volunteering at a young age. She was bought up in a Native American community as her grandfather is Dakota. She soon learned the old traditions and one of those was that the younger generation serve the elders at any gathering where food is served. So Jenny volunteered whenever elders were due to visit The Little Feather Indian Center she would come and help serve the food. A great tradition. She also helped at powows, cooking and serving the food.

In England she also helped with elders when she was in the Girl Guides

Jenny is currently doing fund-raising to support the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, the BBC's Children in Need and Protection for the elderly against abuse.

So if anyone has any old mobiles/MP3s/PDAs they no longer need, please let Jenny know and she will have them sent to Children in Need to raise funds.

Right now Jen is going to be helping out one of the kids in the under 14 drama group who is dyslexic, Jen will be helping them to read and learn their lines. This young peoples group was just set up in September and Jenny feels that it is a really great idea to help kids express themselves in a positive way. It gives them the confidence they wouldn't normally get. She is pleased to do whatever she can to help the group. Jenny says, "I have always had trouble with my own lines as I believe I am dyslexic, I love helping out because I remember being that age and wanted to get on the stage so badly. I think this group is a great opportunity for under 14's to get on and perform in a show. They range in age from 8 to14 and all love it and I get a real sense of achievement from helping them. For example there was a young boy who was very shy and a bit upset when he didn't get a speaking part. His part involved him looking after a little dog, so I got him a singing dog with a christmas hat and told him he had to name it and look after it. It made him feel special I think and he has started to come out of his shell. He is only 8 bless him, but has wonderful facial expresions!"

Jenny's other passion when it comes to social work is Eating Disorders; (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge eating ) A page about this will be added to this site shortly. Jenny has already written one play about a girl with an Eating Disorder, and she wants to alert people to the dangers of them, so will be doing more on the subject.
