Parents Count began as the Parents Anonymous State Resource Office an unincorporated entity within the Department of Pediatrics, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in 1977 by Joyce Mohamoud, now President.

In 1995, we became independent of UMDNJ, received 501 ( C) (3) status and merged with the New York State Resource Office. In 2009 we registered the alternate name of Parents Count with the states of NY and NJ.

The guiding force behind this organization has had 40 years experience working in NY/NJ, and nationally as President of a national organization and as a member of the U.S. Advisory Board on Child Abuse and Neglect appointed by a former Secretary of Health and Human Services.

A number of the Board of Directors have also had a lot of experience in the same field.

Parents Count had offices in New York and New Jersey, USA.
