Clifford Adams has been playing live jazz since he was
17 years old and performed with Patti Labelle and the Bluebells.
Over the years he has played at Trenton jazz club, the Fantasy
Lounge, with such greats as Sonny Stitt, James Moody, George
Benson, Shirley Scott, Gene Ammons, Don Patterson, and Charles
Earland. In 1973, Clifford was with the horn section during
the Stylistics world tour. Later, he went on to perform with
Kool and the Gang for many years, and his trombone solo can
be heard in the hit song Joanna. Clifford has since
recorded a number of solo albums including The Master
Power, Cliff Notes, and Loves
Gonna Get You.
'The Duchess', Doris Spears was born in the Mississippi
Delta and partially raised in Gary Indiana and Chicago IL, where
as a teen-ager she immersed herself in the music of Jazz, Blues
and R & B. By the time she was 17 she was already singing
professionally in Chicago Jazz clubs and concert halls. In the
80's Lionel Hampton met Doris at the New York Public Library
in Bryant Park, invited her to audition, and immediately asked
her to tour with him. The rest, as they say, is history. "A
Tribute to Billie Holiday" and "The Duchess: Jazz
& Juke Joints" are two of her most popular CD's.
Parents Count is an anonymous, confidential support group and
educational organization designed to help parents prevent child
abuse and neglect. In 2007, the last year for which we have statistics,
there were 2 million reports of child abuse and neglect.
Parents
Count focuses on parents as the primary avenue for prevention
and believes parents are the source of the creative changes
that must take place for this situation to reverse itself.
Aall
proceeds of these events went towards helping Parents Count
to make a difference.
