'We hope to have members participate from all our Dakota communities of Prairie Island, Prior Lake, Upper Sioux, Lower Sioux, Fort Totten, Santee, Lake Traverse, Flandreau, Sioux Valley, Pipestone, Bird Tail, Portage la Prairie, Wahpeton and Standing Buffalo.'

begins on November 7th.

The march will begin at 7:00 am from the Lower Sioux Agency Interpretive Center, Redwood County Road 2.

Day 1: November 7th

Prayer Stakes for Wakute's Band will be placed this day.
Begin march on Redwood Co. Rd 2, Lower Sioux Interpretive Center, to 305 St. (gravel road, just past Wabasha's Village Site sign)

Left turn onto 305 St., continue across Redwood Co. Rd.11 and across MN Hwy 4. This gravel road becomes Redwood Co. Rd. 8.

Continue southeast on Co. Rd 8, across MN highway 4, The road then becomes Brown Co. 10; Continue on Co. Rd. 10. until the intersection with 290th St. (19 total miles).

* Walkers will return to the Lower Sious Community Center for the evening

Day 2: November 8th

Prayer Stakes for Red Leg's Band will be placed this day
Car caravans with marchers will leave at 7:00 am to return to Brown Co. Rd. 10 .

Begin march on Brown Co. Rd. 10 continue to MN highway 29.

Turn left on MN highway 29.

Turn left again on 210th St. (gravel road) to KC Road (gravel road)

Turn right on KC Road to Broadway (in New Ulm)

Turn right on Broadway. Follow the curve to the left, then turn right on Minnesota Street.

Right on 2nd St N to the Armory - 205 N Broadway St. (15 miles)

*Lodging at Turner Hall - Evening meal at United Church of Christ.

Day 3: November 9th

Caravan will meet just past the turn-off onto Hwy 68 (take Highway 15/68 out of New Ulm and a left onto 68) at 7:00 a.m.

March will proceed from there, following Highway 68 toward Mankato to its intersection with Highway 169, (21.4 miles).

Day 4: November 10th

Prayer Stakes for Wapahasa & Black Dog's Bands will be placed this day
Caravan will meet at intersection of MN Hwy 22 amd Riverfront DR north of Mankato at 7:30 am. We will continue on Hwy 22 than take a right turn on Minnesota Ave into St Peter.stopping for lunch at the Treaty Site (9.5 miles) and will then Caravan along US Hwy 169 to County Hwy 8 (8.7 miles) Resume walking along Co Hwy 8 - Turn right onto Sand Prairie Rd, - Right onto 316 St - left onto Hwy 93 into Henderson (5.7 miles) (15.2 miles walking 23.9 miles total)

Marchers hosted in Henderson at the New County School (210 Main Street)

Day 5: November 11th

Prayer Stakes for Eagle Head & Good Road's Bands will be placed this day
Marchers will leave New County School, follow Scenic Byway Rd to Hwy 25 (13.5 miles) Load up and drive through Belle Plain, along 169 and exit onto Park Blvd (about 4 miles). Resume walking along Park Blvd - Railroad Dr to Hwy 9 in Jordan (5.5 miles) (19 miles walking 23 total)

*Will caravan to Tiowakan Spiritual Center for evening meal and overnight stay.

Day 6: November 12th

Prayer Stakes for Mixed Blood Families will be placed this day
The march will begin at the entrance to Jordan and veer off to the right to go through the town of Jordon, past St. John the Baptist School on Broadway.

Continue on Co. Rd. 282 then we'll go left onto Co.Rd.17 (Marschall Road) then right on to Co. Rd. 42, to Dakotah Parkway in the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.

Continue on the road that leads to Tiowakan. (13.7 miles).

* 2nd night and evening meal at Tiowakan Spiritual Center


Day 7: November 13th

Prayer Stakes for Taopi & Yellow Medicine's Band will be placed this day
Marchers will drive to the intersection of E Old Shakopee Rd and E 86th St. Begin walking at 8 am on Old Shakopee Rd. Turn right where it meets Killebrew Dr - Right o American Blvd E past the Mn Valley Wildlife Refuge there is a walkway that will cross the river along side 494

Once across the river we will follow the Big River Regional Trail along Hwy 13 to a rest aarea along Sibley Memorial Hwy (2.5 miles along these Trails where the Caravan can not follow)

Vehicles will have to go back along American Blvd as they cannot follow the walkway with us. Right on E Old Shakopee Rd (34th Ave S) Travel one block and take ramp on the right to get onto 494.

The interstate splits here, Hwy 5 going north and 494 going East.
Stay to the right when the road splits to follow 494

After crossing the river on 494 take exit 71 - Pilot Knob Rd Exit
Take a right to head north on Pilot Knob

Left on Mendota Heights Rd (no more than 2 blocks north of 494)
After crossing Hwy 13 this turns into Sibley Memorial Hwy, there is a small park area on the left, meet marchers there (4.5 miles).

After reaching St Peter's Church Marchers turn North onto MN Hwy 55 across Mendota Bridge. Walkers continue down from the bridge into Fort Snelling State Park concentration camp site. (7 miles total this day)

Car caravans go across the Mendota Bridge and exit west onto MN 5, continue past the airport exit, and exit Post Road. At the top of the exit ramp, cars turn left, across the freeway, into Fort Snelling State Park (2 miles).


Ending Feast: A final feast will be held at St Peter's Church (1405 Sibley Memorial Hwy, St Paul MN 55120) after finishing at Fort Snelling, the estimated time is around 2 pm.

To return to St Peter's Church from Fort Snelling follow these directions.
Leaving the State Park head East o MN 5, take MN 55 exit towards Minneapolis Fort Snelling/Hastings, keep right at fork and follo signs for MN 55 E/Mendota Bridge and merge onto MN %% East. Keep left at the fork to MN 110 E and turn left onto MN 13 North.

The Bands listed for each day may differ slightly, if you know of any family member who's name is on the list of those that arrived at Ft Snelling and would like to personally place the prayer stake please contact organizers to have it set aside for you.
