Lothlórien
& Rivendell or even the Shire
Where
would you like to live? Lothlorien or Rivendell? I like both but
prefer Lothlorien I think. Both say peace and quiet, but Lothlorien
speaks it softer.
The
Shire reminds me of England many years ago, when there was hardly
any traffic and people left their doors unlocked, gardens were
used for flowers and vegetables and people were friendly. I even
remember a few horse and cart's on the street, usually a rag and
bone man shouting for our treasures. Now England is more like
a battle field with cars and their polution changing the air that
once was so fresh into a smelly mess. Gardens are now all laid
over with concrete to house the cars that each family has, and
everything is locked for fear of burglers, (who go unpunished,)
and vandals.
People
don't speak even if you do see someone on the street, they lower
their gaze as you go by for fear that you may strike up a conversation
with them. It is as if the Ring has taken over in this country
and has changed what was the Shire into Isangard. I expect I notice
it more because for a number of years I lived in the States with
my family and when we returned, we returned to a country that
was no longer ours. I often say that England is more like America
than America is! The people here especially the young ones watch
tv and movies and copy them thinking that's how America is. Of
course most of it isn't, but they don't know that. So England
is a cross between New York and Los Angeles. The crazy gun culture
is also appearing here, even though guns are illegal. Burglary
is on the rise and your home is no longer your castle, you are
not allowed to protect your home and family from anyone who breaks
in and if you do you are sent to prison for years. The burgler
however gets off scot free.
If
only there was a Lothlorien to go to for sanctury, peace and safety.
To sleep high in the strong arms of the trees that were once sacred
to our ancestors. I am lucky in that I do have a home in Minnesota
as well as here in England but I only go there a few months a
year. There in the mid-west it is also quiet, but almost as soon
as I get there and start to unwind it is time for me to head back
to the craziness of London again.
I took a quiz to find out where I would live and guess what it
confirmed I would live in either Lothlorien or Rivendell
If
I lived in Middle-Earth, it would be in:
Lothlorien or Rivendell
'You prefer the tranquilty and peacefulness of nature and
enjoy the milder seasons of the year. While you know it
is necessary to keep in contact with other living beings,
most of the time you enjoy the seclusion of an aesthetically
pleasing, woodland environment.'

Yet
another i took said this:
Again
in a personality test I came out as this:
Galadriel
- Queen of Lòrien and secret holder of Nenya (one of the Three
Rings).
and
another says:
You
are most like Elrond. Although you are very serious, you're not
above having a good time. It's just that your definition of a
good time is pretty different from other people's. You're very
smart, so use your knowledge to help others! At least your not
so pessimistic. People may think you're hard nosed, but all your
friends know better.
You
are most like Galadriel. There's just something about you that
people like. A sort of aura. You're very kind to people, and you
like to help others succeed. You're not as candid as most people
would like. You don't have to share your deepest darkest secrets,
but be more honest about things! You're more mature than most
people your age, so don't worry!
Anyway
I hope you enjoy this site. If you have any comments please write.
