2013
Dakota
38 + 2 Memorial Ride 2017
The
final day December 26th
Today
the riders go the last 4 miles from Land of
Memories Park to Reconciliation Park in Mankato
for Ceremony.
They
will have breakfast in the hotel
Lunch is provided by the First Unitarian Society
of Minneapolis at the New Creation Church in
Mankato . All are welcome.
Again
another Ride is over, my 10th of running this
group, I really enjoyed making the pages up
each day, thanks for sending in prayers, comments
and photos that I could use. Thanks for your
patience in waiting for me to answer your questions
that you sent to me. Thanks to Mo for her lovely
prayers that I have used almost every day. Thank
you all for supporting the Ride so well.
The
photos below are of Reconciliation Park as when
everyone is there along with the horses (along
with the snow this year) you miss the beauty
of the Park. (Thanks Google Earth!)
I
along with many others worldwide will be praying
along with the Riders at 10 am your time, 4
pm my time here in the UK.

With
a humbled heart prayers up tobacco down.
Creator, thank you for this day! Thank you for
our brothers and sisters that have journeyed upon
the four legged many miles, many days, under many
conditions, carrying heavy loads of emotions,
necessities, spirits, and teachings.
Thank you for keeping them safe and protecting
them. Thank you for the love and kindness shown
to them. Thank you for the prayers, food, shelter,
respect, and honor shown to them. Most of all
Thank you for them! Thank you for the message
of the ride to be heard, to manifest, and to be
supported.
We ask that this be the day of the beginning of
the end of the pain, greed, hatred, and atrocities.
That our Ancestors are proud, that the healing
for all begins, that the insanity of hatred stops!
May the ceremony create so much love, forgiveness,
healing ,and reconciliation that all darkened
hearts are surrounded by the power of equality,
love, honor, and respect! That no brother, nor
sister is ever created as less than, that we are
all allowed to live as you would have us live.
A world where we know we are all one with each
other. May Mother Earth absorb all of our pain
and it be returned to us as the blessings that
are ours, the dignity we deserve, the safety due,
and the solutions to our needs! May our Ancestors
be proud, may their journeys be free, and may
we always hear the messages.
We
know you are always with us, but may be always
be with you!
I
am so humbled to have made this journey in Spirit
with you all. Thank you for the true teachings
of history, the photos, the stories, smiles,
and the willingness to share it all.
May we all acknowledge, learn, honor, reconcile,
heal, and teach.
Much
gratitude, love, honor, and respect!
Big warm hugs from Texas!
I love you all!

Gloria Hazell Derby, I am awe inspired by you,

As the Ceremony is coming to its end, I felt doing
something in my place.
As
an European, every time I watch the movie, I feel
it so powerful when I hear Jim saying "we
want to be the first ones who forgive"
This
year, I have a special candle. Some austrian journalists
had the idea, in 1986, of a special ceremony,
which wants to be ecumenical, to promote Peace.
Every year, a child lights the Light of Peace
in Bethlehem cave, and then it goes to Austria
by plane and is transmitted to many european countries,
and spread in many places.
Thus,
these 38+2 Lights are coming from a continuous
chain from Bethlehem, within Peace intentions.
Much
much Gratitude to all the Riders and Runners and
all the people who allowed this 2017 Ride, and
may the message and power of Reconciliation be
spread by more and more supporters

As I sit here in Alaska & sip my coffee,
I am processing in my mind that the riders who
participated are male and female and the range
of age could be young.
It reminds me that when you make a commitment
to something, you do whatever it takes to follow
thru. They undertook their own personal challenges,
riding maybe for the first time, harsh weather
& a myriad of other things.
As the New Year comes, I will draw my strength
from recalling this ride & remind myself that
no matter the circumstances, once you commit -
follow thru to the end.
Gunalscheesh for your sacrifices & each of
you should sit tall on your horses & ponies
and ride to ceremony today with all the dignity
& respect you have earned. You honor those
who sacrificed so long ago - but today we honor
you.

This is a beautiful park. 28 yrs ago there
was just a sign along the road. I'm so glad some
people created a soothing space for honoring the
lives taken here and this aweful history. Thank
you for your work to communicate this important
tradition of honoring the 38+2 and their families.

closer to reconciliation. In honor of all of the
Dakotah people and in honor of all those in this

I may live in the UK but that doesn't mean
I won't do my silent for the Dakota, for the hanging
that took place. 38 + 2 were hanged, all the Native
Americans because of Lincoln.
As
a way to pray for what has happened, I did a 3
minute silent according to the song and at precisely
at 10:00 AM.
Prayers out to the Natives who were hanged from
United Kingdom!

This photo was taken this morning (Tuesday 12-26-17)
a little bit after 10 am, along 169.....about
10 minutes (by vehicle drive) north of downtown
Mankato (Minnesota) turnoff exit. The Memorial
runners arrived at the Memorial Park downtown
just before 10:30....still minus 2 degrees, with
little wind, luckily. As I was driving along 169,
I pulled over to take these photos. Thinking I
was going to miss everything because I was running
an hour late, I was surprised to see them! As
I left my house for the half hour drive, I saw
3 Eagles on the way, and one right above the park
area when I arrived there! It will take me awhile
to sort and download, but I took about 150 photos/videos
to share here for those who could not be there
in person....

Thanks
for all of the messages. This page would not have been
possible without them.
That's
it for this year, except for an extras page showing
things I may have missed through the Ride. It will take
a number of days to put together but please keep watching
for it.... Prayers sent from me in England for the Riders,
the Horses, the Crews, the Communities who feed and
house the riders, crew and horses, the Supporters worldwide
and YOU... Mitakuye Oyasin
