Dakota 38 + 2 Memorial Ride 2021
Third day - December 12th

Prayer for Today

I am a Great Grandmother from the Chehalis Reservation in Washington State and I sent my love and prayers on a gentle breeze. I pray that it travels over the Land, gathering prayers and lives left by The Ancestors. I pray that little prayer gains strength as it crosses our Sacred Mountains that held Good Medicine for The People. We are a needy People who need much healing.

Elaine McCloud

Thanks Elaine!

We have been asked over the years 'Why only 2 Riders'. This is because often only a couple of Rider's go out, mostly due to bad weather, between stopping points. It is not good for the horses to travel too far in the bad weather and certainly the Rider has to be experienced and weather worn to do it as well. At each stopping point the horses are usually switched out so another one can have a go, and often the Rider is switched as well. The past few years the weather has not been too bad and so that is why people are used to seeing a lot of Riders going out. This year so far it has been frigid and windy, any leader/ staff carrier, would not let inexperienced horses or riders go out in such bad weather, so it's safer to just have two going out together.

The Ride will travel 30 miles today. From Wessington Springs to Woonsocket. The total mileage will be 71
