DAKOTA 38+ 2 MEMORIAL RIDE - 2022

Hello, It is December 12th, 2022, and the final Dakota 38 + 2 Memorial Ride is in it's third day. This is the third webpage of the Ride.

I have added the different years Rides pages at the bottom of the webpages where the other links are, so that those of you who are new can see them.

The background of this page is of 'Riders Boots' from 2013..

This section will stay here all along the Ride to enable people to get calendars no matter what day they come in first.

I am making some different calendars this year. The first one is of the horses through the years, the second one will be of unusual, beautiful, photos that have been taken through the years. They will be $5 each payable to the Go Fund Me page for the Ride expenses. The 3rd one I am working on is a Historic one, of the Dakota 38 and 1862. That Calendar will be FREE. Years ago I was given permission to use these photos from the MN Historical Society as long as I didn't charge anyone for them. So the Calendar with those photos will be free. Same proceedure. I hope this URL works OK.

If you want a Calendar, please email me at dakota38@dragonflydezignz.50megs.com
Let me know which you want and I will email you a PDF file so that you can print them out yourself. As usual I will need an up to date email address from you, or it/they won't reach you, Thanks, Gloria

Prayer from 2013
From Kayla Bluhm

Tears of joy and respect, and sadness come as photos and updates are uploaded. Wopila! Pilamaye for this ride, celebrate the coming of the Oyate. Many songs and prayers sent to all the riders, coordinators, volunteers, and offerings of heat, food and space, and of course all others involved in keeping us updated. My altar is alive with Spirit and my heart rides with you. These songs are sent to you, family. Aho Mitakuye Oyasin! -

Here are some good wishes for the Riders that came in since yesterday.
Once I have collected your post I will like it. If I haven't liked it I won't have got it on my file yet.

Our people, gather, anyone is welcome to gatherings today.
New food feasts, first kills, name ceremonies, weddings, birthdays, holidays, powwows, round dances, a few and share prayers, meals, history and share laugh, hope, as inside there is a hurting cry waiting to be gone. The prayers help those feelings.
The Ride had started, I love to follow that daily.
It saddens my heart to hear this is the last one. But thankful for all that made these happen annually.
So, Creator be with each one that participates, riders, campers, cooks, clean up, our horses, trailers, and vehicles, keep them strong.
As Riders are on their journey, we pray each community will honor them as they pass thru or stop by.
Communities give them areas to rest, laundry, restock, rest horses, thank you so much for your hospitality.
This cold weather, we pray a coat will cover each one with blessings for a safe ride, no sickness or injuries, that their prayers daily will give them enough of what they need.
Warriors, Riding Warriors, Praying Warriors we all pray for the same thing.
Even pray for us, those who would love to be in the Ride, our hearts are riding with you, be safe.
My prayers, love, and peace are with each of you, far and near.

This Ride will be ending. However a different one may take it's place. This FB group will be ending after this Ride though, I for one have been working on this Ride since 2008, and my family will be pleased to see me at Christmas again! I live in England btw. My late husband was Dakota.

We all made it safely to Wessington Springs before nightfall. We are all settling in nicely at the community center where we were served a delicious dinner. Thereafter the town was gifted a beautiful star quilt and a thank you song and dance from the Dakota 38 riders. Nina wopida
