Message from Leonard Alden Crow Dog The
Native Voice Relatives, look today into the mind of your thoughts. There is a lot of excitement about what my grandfathers Henry Crow Dog, John Crow Dog and Jerome Crow Dog left for our clan. And what he had left us that I have put together in the documents. I wonder. Is this under the executive order from the white buffalo calf pipe carrier? Did everybody have a voice to speak? Did they all unanimously vote on this? By their understanding did they think of the sacred cannunpa, who could take care of it and who could smoke this pipe and who could pray? Did they look at the original documents way back from my grandfather's day? Now today, relatives, it is very shocking to our sacred ways of life. Who abuses? Yes, we do know who abuses the pipe. We understand who misconstrues the sacred way. We know who has misinterpreted a dream and a vision. During the time, relatives, in the early 1950s and '60s and '70s, I was told how our people suffered. Since I was a little boy up to then I watched my father. I did not go in front of him or tell him what to do. My father, Leonard Crow Dog, is almost 65 years old. I wonder if he understands what has been taking place. I'm sure that he might know, but we didn't see any documents along with the resolution vote as we were told in the newspaper and the email. For that reason I know that we are so assimilated into the wasicu world. I also know that we have many non-Indian friends across this country. But did we call them non-Indians as we made this friendship? Or did we call the friendship to be a relation in this sacred way of life? We did this to bring balance to you and me as we are going to be the future generation of our traditional way of life. Lots of people use my dad's name to talk about many things. Some are good and some are bad. We were nine sons and eight daughters, and we have never said anything in front of dad, and we have never asked him about this. But now, it looks like this is going to be a ceremonial warfare among the world of believers of the sacred divine fire. The fire in the cedar, in the sweet grass, in the sage and all others. My father has helped many people for many years and we are the medicine people of this land. The reason why I want to make this statement to every one of you is that what little I know of my father I know that he lives the ceremonial way. If he were a greedy man he could have a mansion in his own reservation. Relatives, think. We are going to go back to that segregation of our people way back in the '50s and '60s and various urban states and tribes and the life that we lived. I, Leonard Alden Crow Dog, I speak to you relatives. I want you to put this understanding in the various sequences of the life of your language and your prayer of life. Look at it today and look at it now. And look inside of yourself as a prayer of life that you live. I believe that we could stand together today. Yes, we have lost a lot but we are not greedy people. Look at the land of Manhattan sold for a handful of beads and 24 dollars. Yes, we walk on gold and silver and all the elements but we never live with the money. We know where we are heading with our life. As I am the Junior, I want to say that I hope I don't offend my mother or my father or my grandmothers or grandfathers in spirit world. We must keep the nest, the eagle nest, the crow nest and every coyote of the universe. We must keep it right so our ancestral people might live the life of our generation. I know that my other brothers are thinking like this also. Maybe they have a different view of the vision but I thought I would answer. I don't want my brothers, my dad, my sisters, my mother to get hurt. So I want to say this to you, all my relatives and relations that have Internet access, punch in, turn on, see how you feel. It is not written in the proceedings but it is all written in your inner soul of your inner mind of your communication of the universe of the universe of the power of the grand power. So at this time, I, Alden Leonard Crow Dog, Chief Crow Dog ask my father to excuse me if I say anything that offends him. I have no intentions to do so. But I thought I will have my voice to support him and to support the relatives that have been concerned of the sacred cannunpa and are concerned of the sacred dream and concerned of the sacred altar that our grandfather gave to us. And I appreciate, my father, that you spoke for many people at generational time for the unborn of the future. I believe that we all should join hands. What are we going to do when you are not here father? Who is going to speak for our tiospaye, our clan? For that reason, my grandfather, bless everyone that is under the sun and the moon and the morning star and the tablets of clouds and the wind. I very much appreciate that I am Lakota and that I believe in these sacred ways. Remember the kind words never die. It shall store in your inner soul to bring this mention of the great mention of our grandfathers and grandmothers all my relations. This should be sent out to each community, each tiospaye should know of this. Please go to the following pages to get the reactions of the Little Feather Center and other members.
