DAKOTA 38+
2 MEMORIAL RIDE - 2022
Hello, It is December 19th,
2022, and the final Dakota 38 + 2 Memorial Ride is in it's tenth day.
This is the tenth webpage of the Ride.
I have added the different
years Rides pages at the bottom of the webpages where the other links
are, so that those of you who are new can see them.
The background of this page
is
of a young woman Rider in 2017, carrying the bag where the names of all
those needing prayers during the Ride go into. Anyone can ask for prayers,
for themselves, for someone else. Let Keith or Josette know and the name
will go into the bag and be carried by different riders every day. The
prayers the Riders make during each day go for these people in the bag.
This bag was donated by one of our Riders, Sharlene, it is from South
Africa, as she is.
As of Dec
16th, we have reached 9,000 members in the group. The most we have ever
had.
Sadly less
than 2% of that number are visiting the web site.
This section will stay here
all along the Ride to enable people to get calendars no matter what day
they come in first.
I am making some different
calendars this year. The first one is of the horses through the years,
the second one will be of unusual, beautiful, photos that have been taken
through the years. They will be $5 each payable to the Go Fund Me page
for the Ride expenses. The 3rd one I am working on is a Historic one,
of the Dakota 38 and 1862. That Calendar will be FREE. Years ago I was
given permission to use these photos from the MN Historical Society as
long as I didn't charge anyone for them. So the Calendar with those photos
will be free. Same proceedure. Gloria (Admin)

I hope this URL works OK.
If you want a Calendar, please
email me at dakota38@dragonflydezignz.50megs.com
ASAP
Let me know which you want and I will email you a PDF file so that you
can print them out yourself. As usual I will need an up to date email
address from you, or it/they won't reach you, Thanks, Gloria
FYI: You get a PDF file
in your email, you can then print your own calendar, I do not mail the
actual calendar out to you. As I live in England that would be a bit expensive
to do!! It does work as I made the calendars for a number of years a while
back and as far as I know everyone managed to print one out.
For those of you who have ordered calendars, you are on my list and
the PDF's will be sent out as soon as I have them tested. Keep an eye
out in your email, also the junk mail just in case! Thanks - Gloria
Prayers for the day from

We are Canoe Nations where I come from. But a part of my heart travels
with the Horse Nations on your Sacred Journey! Our Canoe Journey this
year took us away from our family and home for over a month this past
summer! And the same is true for those making that sacrifice with this
ride! On the Paddle to Bella Bella, we were hosted by many Nations and
I read of the generosity and hospitality that The Riders are receiving!
Our People had treacherous times but we persevered as I know the Sacred
Riders will! I follow you on Facebook and love all the pictures! My prayers
and admiration travel with you every day!
Here are some good wishes
for the Riders that came in since yesterday.
Once I have collected your post I will like it. If I haven't liked it
I won't have got it on my file yet.
Day 9/10

This ride has meant so much to so many people, and it is sad to
see it end. But it started with a dream, and I feel in my heart
that there will be more rides to come, and more dreams. In the meantime,
we hold this last ride in our hearts, and we will Remember
Ola Reynolds
Nina I love your videos. Thank you for sharing. Are more Riders
joining in yet?
Gloria Hazell-Derby Admin
There will probably be more joining them closer to the Lower Sioux,
where the actual History took place.

We've been to Pipestone National Park several times. It's beautiful.
We visited with one of the quarriers there . He was working his
family's pit. He was also a pipe maker. We purchased one of his
pipes in the information center. It meant so much to have talked
with the person who made the pipe.
Gloria Hazell-Derby Admin:
That was probably my nephew, Travis, Alice's son and Admin, Marge's
brother, or another nephew Mark Pederson. They both work the pits
and make Pipes

So sorry the Horses and Riders have had to deal with such frigid weather
conditions today and the same thing tomorrow. May they stay warm,
rest and sleep well tonight. May Spirit give them strength during
tomorrow's Ride. |

to you. |
Snow Rodefer
Roxanne Campbell me too. I rode 10 years ago. Got me a new endurance
horse. Was hoping to do it again in 2 years when he's old enough.
I thought about riding it anyways. |

Prayers for Riders and Horses. Are the runners supposed to join
in?
Cari Lanke Admin
Ola Reynolds The runners will be joining in on the last day Dec
26 (10 am or so) at the Reconciliation Park in Mankato where the
closing ceremonies for the Ride will be taking place
Ola Reynolds
Cari Lanke I think they are running 5 miles. Don't know how many
yet. Do you?
Gloria Hazell-Derby Admin
No we never know Ola, They are an entity in their own right, and
have been running for longer than the Ride has been happening, around
30 years I believe. They run overnight from Fort Snelling and meet
up with the Ride in Mankato for Ceremonies

Traveling Day

I wish I could see this in person. I'm from St. Peter and I've been
at Land of Memories park a few times waiting for the riders. As
a child I was upset by the marker on the execution site I am saddened
to learn that this is the last ride; I had hoped to hoped to ride
with them just once, even for a mile or two. Prayers up for their
peace and safety.
