DAKOTA 38+
2 MEMORIAL RIDE - 2022
Hello, It is December 20th,
2022, and the final Dakota 38 + 2 Memorial Ride is in it's eleventh day.
This is the eleventh webpage of the Ride.
I have added the different
years Rides pages at the bottom of the webpages where the other links
are, so that those of you who are new can see them.
The background of this page
is
of a young woman Rider in 2018, with a Cradle Board on her back. The women
that year did this to honor their ancestors. I believe this photo was
taken next to Little Crow's grave in Flandreau.
As of Dec
16th, we have reached 9,000 members in the group. The most we have ever
had.
Sadly less
than 2% of that number are visiting the web site.
This section will stay here
all along the Ride to enable people to get calendars no matter what day
they come in first.
I am making some different
calendars this year. The first one is of the horses through the years,
the second one will be of unusual, beautiful, photos that have been taken
through the years. They will be $5 each payable to the Go Fund Me page
for the Ride expenses. The 3rd one I am working on is a Historic one,
of the Dakota 38 and 1862. That Calendar will be FREE. Years ago I was
given permission to use these photos from the MN Historical Society as
long as I didn't charge anyone for them. So the Calendar with those photos
will be free. Same proceedure. Gloria (Admin)

I hope this URL works OK.
If you want a Calendar, please
email me at dakota38@dragonflydezignz.50megs.com
ASAP
Let me know which you want and I will email you a PDF file so that you
can print them out yourself. As usual I will need an up to date email
address from you, or it/they won't reach you, Thanks, Gloria
FYI: You get a PDF file
in your email, you can then print your own calendar, I do not mail the
actual calendar out to you. As I live in England that would be a bit expensive
to do!! It does work as I made the calendars for a number of years a while
back and as far as I know everyone managed to print one out.
For those of you who have ordered calendars, you are on my list and
the PDF's will be sent out as soon as I have them tested. Keep an eye
out in your email, also the junk mail just in case! Thanks - Gloria
Prayers for the day from
Mo 2019
Blessings relatives, Creator we thank you for the love, support, safety,
and strength of our riders, staff, volunteers, and horse nation. Please
surround everyone on this journey with a day of respect and honor. Give
them all they need, help ease the pains, the sorrow, and the weight. They
are traveling their first day in the state where many more are gathered
with support. Help them feel that. May Grandfather Sun warm all bodies
with enough energy to carry them through their cold nights. May Grandmother
moon watch over them in their slumber, and the star nation be their messengers,
until the new light shines again.
Mitakuye Oyasin A'ho
Here are some good wishes
for the Riders that came in since yesterday.
Once I have collected your post I will like it. If I haven't liked it
I won't have got it on my file yet.

Thanks Jimmy Hallum, this is so true about my family at the Little
Feather Center. My late husband Chuck Derby would be smiling at
your words. Alice and I promised him when he was dying that we
would do all we could to help the Ride that he loved, we have
both kept to that promise. Alice and her team of wonderful people,
feed the Riders, I and my group of capable Admins, run the facebook
group, and let people (9,000 this week) know what is going on
during the Ride. It has truly been an honor to be able to do this
for Spirit and the People. I now live in England, but feel closer
to Chuck every year at this time. Mitakuye Owasin.

Love this, yes this is most gracious manners. I was raised like
that also. Wonderful that so many young people are being led to
experience the Spiritual connection & understanding. Prayers

To Do.

the elders and the incredible manners and caring they have for
others who are on this ride. Thank you also for sharing the history

The green lots are reserved spaces for elders, riders, runners and
horse trailers. The blue and pink lots are for the public. Dress
warm and arrive early, its gonna be cold and there may be
a bit of a walk to get to the site before the riders and runners
come in at 10am on the 26th. Safe travels to all and we look forward
to seeing you soon!

This brought tears to my heart and eyes. It's finally getting recognition
after 17 years and on the final. Being Sioux myself I'm trying to
figure out how to keep it going. Even if I have to ride it by myself.
Thank you for sharing. It was broad-casted very well.

This is to extend my sincere gratitude for those of you all
over the US and The Netherlands who contributed to the Dakota
38+2 fundraiser by purchasing a 'Limited Edition' bracelet or
two from Two Siouxs.
We raised a little over $1,000!
This generous gift will help Josette and Keith support the riders
and horses on their journey to Mankato. Please keep them in
your thoughts and prayers as they continue to ride through this
tough winter weather.
Thank you so much for your support!

Dakota 38 Memorial
Run
December 28th 2019:
I have an addition to this page of a Dakota 38 Runner.
The Memorial Run has been
going on since 1988, much longer than the Ride has been going on. The
Runners run from Fort Snelling on Christmas day night at 11:30 pm, to
meet up with the Ride at Reconciliation Park at 10 am.
It is usually the young men
who do this run, each running a mile or so in the dead of night so they
can be in Mankato at the correct time. The runners pray all the time they
are running for their ancestors.
This year I found out about
this young woman runner. Her name is Trisha CaxSep GuWiga Etringer, it
was her first year of running but she wants to come back next year and
do it again. Well done Trisha.
January 8th 2020:
Another young woman runner is Marilyn Allen, who is Dakota from the Flandreau
Santee Sioux tribe in South Dakota, she is doing the run to keep the memories
alive of the 38.
Vesta Minn
Today the Ride goes 33 miles
(236) from Russell to Vesta
The Horses get taken care
of at a Farm Coral in Russell. Hay donated by Dustin
Lodging will be in Marshall
SW MN State Uni Dorms
Bring sleeping gear and pillows
Breakfast will be with the
Russell Community
Lunch will be with the Bemiji
Uni
Dinner will be with SW MN
Uni Oyate Club
Thanks to all of those who
are assisting with the food. It is much appreciated.
That's it for today.... Prayers sent from me in England for the Riders,
the Horses, the Crews, the Communities who feed and house the riders,
crew and horses, the Supporters worldwide and YOU... Mitakuye Owasin
Until tommorow, sleep well
