A Dream Comes True

Two young boys, during the blizzard, to each other: 'Can I ride?' 'Yeah' 'How do I get on?' 'Just jump on.' 'I can't, I'm not big enough.' So the second boy finds him a way to get on. He is seen riding the horse while the second boy leads the horse. The first boy says, 'This is fun'. As they both laugh.

Dakota 38 + 2 Memorial Ride 2014 - Day 4
Forestburg to Howard

Today is a good day, a young people's day, a brilliant day, and so I am featuring the two young boys from the movie. A young people's day? you say.. why today? Well two of our relatives in the Ride had great news today about two other young boys. Lynny Prince announced the arrival of Roman Allen, and Patt Iron Cloud announced the arrival of Mason Crawford. Both if these baby boys were born on this unusual date, a sacred date of 12/13/14, and they will grow up with traditions from their families, one of those traditions will be the Sacred Dakota 38 + 2 Memorial Ride, where one day they too will be Riders alongside their worldwide kin. Welcome to the world sacred boys.. - Gloria

Emma Pedro - The riders, the Sunkan Wakan, the photos, postings of prayers, hopes, dreams are spiritually nourishing to so many across the world. Our hearts are with you every step of the way. We send our love, light our candles, incense & feel you in our swelling hearts, which beat the same rhythm regardless of colour. Blood is red. Words are not enough.

Another young man to be proud of. This is Jacob Thomas LaBlanc one of the young riders.

And another young man, no pun intended, who did us proud today, is Johnathon Mann, who carried the Pouch with the names of those who had passed on or needed healing in it on the Ride. Prayers are said for these people, and many others, during the Ride.

Continuing on this theme take a look at the little boy on the right, he is quietly sitting watching and listening to the drum, probably dreaming of the day when he can join in. This is at Lower Brule at the start of the Ride. No doubt one day in the not too distant future this boy will also be a rider. I don't know his name, I just noticed him today while I was chosing photos for today's theme.

This is RD Pumpkinseed, from Sisseton, carrying the Buffalo Staff.

Other young male riders are Mason Redwing, Talon Voice, and Manga Cha,

I have not forgotten the girl riders, they will have their own day later, so far the girls such as Odowan Wicaku Win, Andrea Eastman and LeAnne Red Owl are supplying lots of photos of the riders but not of themselves, come on ladies let's see you on the Ride.

Can you, the riders, please remember the veterans in your prayers today? When we were at the VA the other day there were many there who appeared to be suffering greatly. There are many of our own who suffer from PTSD and the addictions that come as a companion to the individual. Just this morning I smudged Jim and told him that he needed to be smudged off for wherever he went during the night. He said yes, I was in Vietnam.

May the Shunkan Wankan be
blessed on this Sacred ride. May Tunkashina Wankan bless the riders and founders Jim Miller and Alberta Iron Cloud Miller on their journey across South Dakota towards Mankato, Minnesota. May we all remember that this is a "Healing" journey for our Native people and the Non Native people as well . So we can all forgive the atrocities, forget the hurt and love One Another and then and only then can we all be HEALED!!! Hugz - Patt
