Chief Little Crow's Grave in Flandreau,
SD.
The painting was a gift to my late friend, Janine, who often laid
it on the grave when doing Ceremony. The offerings amd stick are from
Michael, who Walks from the place of Taoya Te Duta killing to Flandreau
where he plants a new staff every year. Michael is the other painting
on the buckskin.

2020 (Virtual Ride)
Due to Covid 19 the Ride is not
happening this year, so I am making up a virtual Ride from previous
year's Ride's photos and comments.
Hopefully the Ride will be back
on in 2021

Day 12
Monday, December 21st
2020
Prayer of the day
Mo Nichols - 2017
I often wonder if the riders experience
any joy on this ride... each has their own experience, and the
ride is not a celebration in ways many would define as such.
I personally, on this end of a screen, find humbled "joy"
in knowing that this will lead to "joy" in many lives.
For as we heal we open our hearts to allow joy to enter.
Prayers up that this day gives
a moment for each one of us to find something that our heart
smiles for.
Creator blessed our property with a litter of new life, from
a feral cat. This one has captured my heart, in particular.
Such a little example of being connected to all... colors, hearts,
relations.
Creator Bless the riders and the
four legged with everything they need today. Let them know how
thankful we are for their journey. Let all the support staff
and volunteers know they are appreciated and needed as well.
Please humble us all: allow us to remember where we came from,
where we are, and where we are going. We are one!
Have a safe day, stay warm, eat
well, rest well!
With gratitude, love, honor, and respect
A'ho

Joy Maddox - 2017
I remember last year an elder told us how hard the month of
December was for them. As most people celebrated and had cheer
and joy, but for the Natives, for the one's who know history
December is a time that is the hardest, the coldest and a time
when we feel the tragedies from the past. Prayers for Forgivness
and Reconciliation.

It is 6 years since one of our
Riders, Shelly, passed away while she was leaving the Ride and
going home. She was a sparking young woman, who had a smile
for everyone, and rode a Mule! The whole Ride was in shock but
had to continue the Ride, all the while thinking of her. It
was not a good time for anyone. We remember her today.

Singer, Motivational Speaker, Artist
and Dancer, Dakota, Jackie Bird, with Betty who helped with

This is Jackie Bird on the 'Dakota 38' Movie, singing and having
a laugh with the Riders. - 2008
In 2010, Jackie sung for my late
husband Chuck the evening before he passed, it was a mini concert
for him and those of us keeping him company. She gave him an
eagle feather for his journey. He carries that in his hand on
his journey to the next world. I will always be thankful to
her for doing that for him. - Gloria

These women were also on the 'Dakota
38' movie, They helped cook and serve the food at one stop over.
They designed the tees themselves only knowing the Dakota word
'Wopida'. What a lovely saying they made from it though. All helpers
at this stop wore the tees. - 2008

And of course, all of you, watching
through your screen! You are appreciated by everyone involved.

This is a photo from the Women's March
that is done in November every other year to remember and honor the
Women who were forced marched from the Lower Sioux to Fort Snelling.
Every mile they stop and plant a marker with one of the women's name
on it. They support the women who endured we here support the men who
were hung. I worked with these women for the first number of years making
their website for them, they were all amazing Winyan. My late husband
Chuck made the Pipe for them to use, the one that had the picture of
one of the 1862 women (Winona) in the stone, been there for millions
of years and there it was showing itself in a Pipe that these Women
would be using to say prayers for this same woman and all of the others.
So beautifully amazing. The lady in white in the front, is Phyllis Redday
Roberts, she is the Pipe carrier for the group. Her son is in our group
and I just found out this week that she is sick in a nursing home. My
prayers go out for her, I hope you will join me.
