2020 (Virtual Ride)

Due to Covid 19 the Ride is not happening this year, so I am making up a virtual Ride from previous year's Ride's photos and comments.

Hopefully the Ride will be back on in 2021

Prayer to the Great Spirit
O Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds, and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me!
I am small and weak. I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Let me hear the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I need strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy – myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
Aho.

Words of the Day

I met Jim and Alberta Iron Cloud Miller on February 20, 2013 at the Heard Museum in Phoenix AZ. The film Dakota 38 + 2 was being shown. My friend had viewed the film and recommended that I see it. Said it was a part of my history. My mother Standing Rock Sioux and my father Rosebud Sioux. I will never forget how this history impacted me. I support Jim Miller's vision and pray for healing and reconciliation.
Prayers up for the horses, riders and support crew.

Tears of joy and respect, and sadness come as photos and updates are uploaded. Wopila! Pilamaye for this ride, celebrate the coming of the oyate. Many songs and prayers sent to all the riders, coordinators, volunteers, and offerings of heat, food and space, and of course all others involved in keeping us updated. My altar is alive with Spirit and my heart rides with you. These songs are sent to you, family. Aho Mitakuye Oyasin!

This is already the third year that I follow the memory ride. I hope by posting your memory Ride to reach people in my country as well. So that they learn what a sad tragedy has happened here. Many people here, do not know the history of Indigenous People.

Thanks for joining me. Grew up with horses and a love for heritage as I was born into the Amish culture. But recently started reading history about what really happened here and am learning many things. Always have had a special place in my heart for Natives if this land but now more than ever before! So much respect for the Natives and what they wanted to teach the European peace love and respect for one another and the land all around. My heart breaks for the things that were done and deceit that took place!!

I cant wait for the ride to start from across the river Lower Brule. I got to witness the last day of the ride and I feel so honored to be a Dakota. My aunt Stella P.S. Flute used to cook and feed all the riders along the way. She is in the spirit world now and no one can ever fill her moccasins. She was a great woman with a very loving cante'. I want to honor her and all those that were executed.

May our Creator watch over each and every rider and horse and bless them with a safe journey. May our creator watch over all those who have and who will be helping the ride and bless them each with good health, peace and happiness.
My heart and my prayers will be with you everyday. Thank you so much for all of this!
